What a terminal actually is
Every app you use is a picture of your computer. The terminal is the computer with the picture taken off.
Open one on Windows and Mac, and type your first word
On a Mac press command and space. On Windows use the search box on the taskbar. Type terminal, press enter. The blinking line is the cursor, and it means your turn.
This is your file system
You already know this screen. Every one of those folders is a room in your computer, and the terminal is another door into the same building.
